Here you will find all the information required to create a successful online website.

There are two main methods that you will be required to choose from in order to begin creating your website.

The first being FTP which allows you to upload whatever files you wish, such as HTML, PHP, and any pre compiled or open source scripts that you may decide to upload to your new domain and hosting.

Your FTP username and password are the same as those you use to login to your website control panel,  so if your username is wbs_123456 and your password is mypassword, then your username and password for FTP access would be the same.

All the information you require can be found within the left hand side of your account control panel once you have logged into your account, as shown in the example image to the right >

See it over there under account information? In this case my FTP server hostname or server name would be ftp.example.com

So, let’s see we’ve now got our username, our password and what server we’re connecting to but what about that port thing the program is asking about? Simple you can use port 21 or in most cases you may even leave the port number blank.

So let’s put it all together now, in my case my details are…

• FTP Username: host_123456
• FTP Password:   mypassword
• FTP Hostname/Server: ftp.example.com
• FTP Port Number: 21

Your username is used to access the following areas and services for your free hosting account:

• Your website control panel
• Your FTP account
• Your POP3 E-mail account
• Your MySQL Databases

Without that username, you will be unable to login to your account or use our services so please, keep it in a safe and readily accessible location in the event you forget it!

Password

The password you chose when you created your account is used in conjunction with your username to give you access to your account and services, think of it like the keys to your house and without it, you can’t get in.

Should you ever forget your password, you can reset it by going to the website control panel login page and clicking on Recover Password. You will then be asked to provide the username (eg. host_123456) and your registered e-mail address which we will use to send you a new password.

If you can’t remember either, you will have to contact us either via e-mail, support system or other means in order to regain access to your account.

Again, write it down, store it in a safe place!

MySQL Databases

To create and administrate your databases, you can use the MySQL Databases feature which allows you to create and remove databases as well as perform backups and launch phpMyAdmin to manupulate the data within the database.

To create databases you simply give them a name such as forum and click on the Create Database button to make the database, you will then see it on the left hand side listed as host_123456_forum which is the name of your new database.

Of course we’ll get into databases including managing them a bit more later, this is just a general here’s where you’ll find that option.

phpMyAdmin

In order to manipulate data within your databases, you must have some means of controlling it and for this purpose we provide phpMyAdmin, a popular open source MySQL management tool.

Can you guess how to connect to the database you want to work in? I bet you can!

Slow Query Statistics

If you’re constantly running into slowness on your database driven site, you can check this option to find out if you have any slow queries in your scripts and gives you an idea of where to optimize your site.

1)  Setup a simple frame in which you can display any given website under your own domain name, masking the original URL. This method is ideal if you do not want your visitors to see the original domain they are being sent to and is often used to shorten URLs of sites such as myspace and facebook profiles, as well as products or services that you may be wishing to promote.

Simply download this file ( frame.zip ) and open it within your windows notepad application or chosen HTML editor and change the URL to that of the URL you wish to divert to. Then upload the contents of the zip file using the file browser in your vista panel after having logged into your account, or using your own FTP software. (ftp instructions can be found at start.wbs.ms)

2) Would be a redirection. This method will relocate visitors from your chosen domain, to another URL of choice. With this method the visitors will be completely redirected to a new URL and will not show your domain name in the users browser address bar after relocation.

Simply download this file ( redirection.zip ), and open it within your windows notepad application or chosen HTML editor and change the URL to that of the URL you wish to divert to. Then upload the contents of the zip file using the file browser in your vista panel after having logged into your account, or using your own FTP software.
